I'm not the one who ported Android to the Touch, I merely make it easier for most people to use by providing an easy to install/uninstall CAB file. dzo (Martin) over at xda-developer's is the one doing the real work.
This installer is an all in one installer. You may have to edit the startup.txt in the Programs folder if your carrier requires different settings to connect. I use Sprint and the file that comes included works.
Requires microSD card with at least 256mb of free space.
I will try and keep this updated with the latest build.
Keep in mind the following:
- To run, just to go to Start-> Programs -> Android
- This should allow you to save information and install programs now
- You really shouldn't need to do any screen calibration in Android
- You will need to have an Internet connection going before you launch. You can get this by launching Pocket IE and let it connect to a webpage, then launch Android.
- GPS is not working. It shows a demo of what it will look like when it is working. No I don't know who the demo was following and yes it is on a freeway in California.
- Camera doesn't work because the driver isn't quite done yet
- SD card should be working now so you can take pictures(well pictures of whats on the camera screen) and use apps that need the storage card.
- Startup seems fairly quick now after the first run.
- If you get a continuous message that says "android_power: wakeup", please move all the files in Program Files/Android to the root of your SD card (/Storage Card/)
Key Controls:
Camera button - Keyboard
Double tap camera button - Switch between portrait and landscape
Volume Up - Back button.
Volume Down - Menu
End call - Power button
Talk key - Launch dialer
Power - Home key when on. Brings out of standby when screen is off
Currently this only works correctly on the HTC Vogue. Again, this has only been designed and tested on the HTC Vogue. HTC Vogue is also known as Sprint Touch, Verizn VX6900. Do not complain that it doesn't work on other devices. If you want it to work on your device, download the Android 1.0 SDK from Google's official site and start porting.
Updates Below
Update on December 2, 2008:
-Switched to cramfs for the system image, just put system.img on the card. Double clicking the cam button now switches from portrait to landscape mode. Camera works better.
-Funambol is included. This lets you sync contacts with Outlook, WinMo, etc. Added Windows Mobile version as well
-Togga Connection toggle added. Run Togga to toggle your internet connection. It may need to be ran a couple of times.
-To get the camera to work: Run the "Camera" application

New Version Problem
Since I have installed this latest version, i am unable to get the Android GUI to come up. The main error that I see is this :
Android SH: can't access tty; job control turned off
And then it just continues adding "android.power: wakeup..." on the screen...
Am I missing some other file? I moved all the files to the root of the SD card just to try that as well, and no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bad Sector
